Configure tax rates and groups for your POS transactions.
9.1 Tax Rates
Tax rates define individual tax percentages:
- Go to Sidebar > Administration > Tax Rates
- Click Add Tax Rate
- Enter:
- Name (e.g. "VAT", "NHIL", "Service Tax")
- Rate percentage
- Jurisdiction and jurisdiction code
- Whether it is compound (calculated on top of other taxes)
- Effective date and optional end date
- Click Save
9.2 Tax Groups
Tax groups bundle multiple rates together:
- Go to Sidebar > Administration > Tax Groups
- Click Add Tax Group
- Enter a name and description
- Select the tax rates to include
- Optionally mark as the Default group (used when a taxable product does not have a specific sales tax group)
- Click Save
9.3 Tax on the Sell Screen
- The default tax group is used when a taxable product does not have a specific sales tax group
- The current sale can be marked Taxable, Exempt, or Zero-Rated
- Tax mode overrides require supervisor approval (if configured)
- Compound taxes are calculated in sequence (tax-on-tax)
