The POS sell screen is a full-screen register interface designed for fast retail transactions.

4.1 Accessing the Sell Screen

  1. Go to Sidebar > Sales > Sell (or click the Sell button)
  2. The sell screen opens with your active shift

4.2 Adding Items

You can add products to the cart in several ways:

  • Barcode Scan — Scan a product barcode with a connected scanner
  • Product Search — Type a product name, SKU, or barcode in the search box
  • Category Browse — Browse products by category with images and stock levels

Each item shows:

  • Product name and SKU
  • Available stock at the current location
  • Unit price
  • Tax treatment (Taxable, Exempt, Zero-Rated)

4.3 Adjusting Cart Items

For each item in the cart you can:

  • Change the Quantity
  • Apply a Discount (fixed amount or percentage)
  • Change the Tax Treatment (if supervisor-approved and permitted in settings)
  • Remove the item

4.4 Applying Discounts

  • Line-level discount — Apply to individual items
  • Supervisor approval — Discounts above the configured cashier limit require a supervisor PIN

The maximum cashier discount percentage is set in POS Settings.

4.5 Selecting a Customer

  1. Click Add Customer on the sell screen
  2. Search by name, phone, or Ghana Card number
  3. Select an existing customer or Quick Create a new one
  4. Quick Create requires a name; phone is optional
  5. The customer is attached to the sale for receipt, credit, and loyalty tracking

4.6 Completing a Sale

  1. Review the cart (items, quantities, discounts, tax)
  2. Click Pay
  3. Select the Payment Method(s):
    • Cash — enter amount tendered, system calculates change
    • Card — enter reference number
    • Mobile Money — enter reference number
    • Bank Transfer — enter reference number
    • GhQR — enter a reference if needed
  4. You can split payment across multiple methods
  5. If Allow Credit Sales is enabled in POS Settings and a customer is attached, switch on Charge remaining balance to customer credit
  6. Enter the Due Date for the outstanding balance if you are saving a credit sale
  7. Click Complete Sale or Complete Credit Sale
  8. The receipt is generated automatically

4.7 Tax Calculation

Tax is calculated based on your POS settings:

  • Tax-inclusive pricing — Prices already include tax (tax is backed out)
  • Tax-exclusive pricing — Tax is added on top of the price
  • Default Tax Group — Applied to all taxable items unless overridden
  • Item tax treatment — Individual items can be Taxable, Exempt, or Zero-Rated

4.8 Parking (Suspending) a Sale

If a customer needs to step away or you need to serve another customer:

  1. Click Park Sale
  2. The sale is saved with its items, selected customer, sale-level discount, tax mode, and note
  3. Later, open the Parked Sales page or the recall modal on the sell screen
  4. Click Recall to resume the sale

4.9 Voiding a Sale

To void a completed sale:

  1. Go to the sale detail page
  2. Click Void Sale
  3. A supervisor PIN is required
  4. The sale is marked as voided and inventory is restored
