HR seeds configurable Ghana-oriented defaults: 15 paid working days of annual leave, 12 paid weeks of maternity leave with certified extensions, certificate-supported sick leave, and unpaid leave. Administrators may add custom paid or unpaid types.

Working-day calculations use the configured work week and the annually reviewed public-holiday calendar. Review seeded holidays before relying on them, especially when government observance dates change.

A leave request records the employee, leave type, dates, computed units, reason, evidence, approvers, decisions, and balance effect. Approval posts immutable leave-ledger entries. Rejection records the decision without consuming balance. Cancellation reverses the approved effect with a new ledger entry instead of rewriting history.

When multiple approval steps are configured, each approval advances the request until the final decision posts the balance. Evidence-required leave cannot be submitted without an accepted supporting file.
