HR and Payroll share the canonical workforce employee. An HR-created employee appears to Payroll as not enrolled until a Payroll operator creates the one-to-one payroll profile. Payroll-only businesses can continue operating without HR.
Paid leave has no automatic pay effect. Unpaid leave affects Payroll only when its leave type is mapped to an unpaid-leave component and a daily-rate divisor is configured. Missing configuration blocks calculation rather than guessing.
Only one leave-accrual source should control a period. Existing Payroll accrual remains selected until HR calendar accrual is enabled or an administrator explicitly switches it. Scheduled exits exclude employees from ordinary runs after the effective date while preserving a final-settlement path.
