Journal entries are the manual double-entry tools of the ledger.

Where to find it: Sidebar > General Ledger > Journal Entries

11.1 Understanding Double-Entry

Every posted entry must balance: total debits must equal total credits.

11.2 Creating a Journal Entry

  1. Go to General Ledger > Journal Entries
  2. Click New Entry
  3. Set the date and description
  4. Optionally assign Tags for reusable classification
  5. Add at least two lines
  6. Make sure debits equal credits
  7. Save as draft or post

11.3 Posting a Journal Entry

A posted entry:

  • Receives an entry number
  • Hits the ledger immediately
  • Cannot be edited in place

11.4 Reversing a Journal Entry

Use Reverse on a posted journal instead of editing it directly.

11.5 Editing and Deleting Drafts

Draft journals can be edited or deleted until posted.

11.6 Approval for Journal Entries

If a journal approval workflow applies, the entry must move through approval before final posting.
