The Chart of Accounts defines the accounts used by the ledger.

Where to find it: Sidebar > General Ledger > Chart of Accounts

10.1 Account Types

SikaBooks supports the major IFRS-style account families:

  • Asset
  • Liability
  • Equity
  • Revenue
  • Expense

10.2 Creating an Account

  1. Go to General Ledger > Chart of Accounts
  2. Click New Account
  3. Fill in:
    • Account Code
    • Account Name
    • Type
    • Subtype
    • Parent Account when needed
    • Description
    • Cash Flow Category
  4. Save

10.3 Account Hierarchy

Accounts can be arranged into parent-child structures. Circular references are blocked.

10.4 System Accounts

Accounting Settings > Account Mapping lets you assign defaults such as:

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Accounts Payable
  • Cash
  • Revenue
  • Expense
  • VAT & Levies Liability
  • Realized / Unrealized FX Gain
  • Realized / Unrealized FX Loss
  • Retained Earnings
  • Income Summary

10.5 Deactivating an Account

Accounts with history should be deactivated instead of deleted.
