Term	Meaning in this workflow
Check / order	The guest's open restaurant record, identified by order number. It may contain several rounds before payment.
Covers	Number of guests on a dine-in order; not an automatic bill split.
Waiter / server	Person assigned to service the dine-in check and receive service attribution.
Cashier	Authenticated POS operator recording sales/payments, which may be someone other than the waiter.
Register / shift	The selling point and its open trading session, including opening and closing cash.
Held	An item saved on the check but not yet dispatched. Auto-fire can bypass a visible held stage.
Fire / send / dispatch	Release items for preparation and consume their configured stock. Send is the KDS terminal label; Confirm & Print is used for paper/combined orders.
Prep station	Configured preparation destination such as kitchen or bar; it is not an automatically selected physical printer.
KDS / bump	Kitchen Display System; bumping marks preparation ready, not paid or served.
Preparation batch	Saved dispatch, change or cancellation snapshot used to recover paper copies.
Reprint	Another copy of saved information, not another dispatch, sale or stock movement.
Settlement / paid receipt	Recording the sale/payment and its receipt; separate from presenting an unpaid bill.
MoMo	Mobile money. Recording the method/reference in POS does not verify the external transfer.
GHS	Ghana cedi currency code. Check the register currency before using a worked amount.
Void / refund	Authorised correction of a recorded sale/payment, not ordinary unpaid item removal.
X-Report	Current-shift operating summary available from register details; it does not close the shift.
