The drug catalog links Inventory products to pharmaceutical metadata — drug schedules, dosage forms, therapeutic categories, and regulatory flags.

2.1 Viewing the Drug Catalog

  1. Go to Sidebar > Pharmacy > Drug Catalog
  2. Browse all registered drugs
  3. Filter by:
    • Search (generic name, brand name, product name)
    • Drug schedule (Class A I, A II, B, C, Exempted)
    • Therapeutic category
    • NHIS listed status

2.2 Adding a Drug

  1. Click Add Drug
  2. Select the Inventory Product to link (must be active, sellable, batch-tracked, goods type)
  3. Enter pharmaceutical details:
    • Generic Name (e.g. "Amoxicillin")
    • Brand Names (multiple brand alternatives)
    • Dosage Form (tablet, capsule, syrup, injection, cream, etc.)
    • Strength (e.g. "500mg", "250mg/5ml")
    • Drug Schedule — Determines regulatory requirements:
Schedule Classification Requirements
Class A Part I Prescription Only Requires valid prescription
Class A Part II Narcotic/Controlled Requires pharmacist, prescription, quantity limits
Class B Pharmacy Only Must keep dangerous drugs record
Class C OTC Over the counter, no restrictions
Exempted General Sale No restrictions
  1. Enter optional details:
    • FDA Registration Number
    • Therapeutic Category (analgesics, antibiotics, antimalarials, etc.)
    • Contraindications and side effects
    • Storage requirements
    • Manufacturer and country of origin
    • NHIS listed status
    • Maximum quantity per dispensing
  2. Click Save

The system automatically sets requires_prescription, is_controlled_substance, and requires_dangerous_drugs_record flags based on the selected drug schedule.

2.3 Editing a Drug

  1. Go to the drug detail page
  2. Click Edit
  3. Update fields as needed
  4. Click Save

2.4 Drug Details

Click a drug to view:

  • Full pharmaceutical profile
  • Linked Inventory product with current stock
  • Regulatory flags (prescription required, controlled substance, dangerous drug)
  • Dispensing history

2.5 Deleting a Drug

  1. Go to the drug detail page
  2. Click Delete
  3. Confirm the deletion

Soft delete is used — the drug is deactivated but its dispensing history is preserved.
