The dispensing log is an immutable audit trail of every drug dispensed. It cannot be edited or deleted — this is a regulatory compliance requirement.
5.1 Viewing the Dispensing Log
- Go to Sidebar > Pharmacy > Dispensing Log
- Browse all dispensing entries
- Filter by:
- Drug name
- Location
- Dispensed by (POS user)
- Date range
- Entry type (Dispensing or Reversal)
5.2 Controlled Substance Log
- Go to Sidebar > Pharmacy > Dispensing Log
- Click Controlled Only to filter for Class A Part II drugs
- This view is specifically for controlled substance compliance tracking
5.3 Dispensing Entry Details
Click an entry to view:
- Dispensing number (DIS-YYYYMMDD-XXXXXX)
- Entry type (Dispensing or Reversal)
- Drug name, schedule, and regulatory flags
- Patient name and ID
- Doctor name
- Quantity, unit price, batch number, and expiry
- Batch allocations (which batches contributed)
- Linked POS sale
- Linked prescription (if applicable)
- Dispensed by and timestamp
5.4 Reversals
When a POS sale is voided or returned, a reversal entry is created in the dispensing log:
- Entry type is set to Reversal
- Links to the original dispensing entry via
reversal_of_id - The reversal is also immutable
- Prescription quantities are adjusted accordingly
