Quality and Cure

Quality keeps a batch off sale until its checks pass, its cure time is over, and an independent quality lead releases it.

Where to find it: Sidebar > Products > Quality and recalls

10.1 When a Batch Goes on Hold

A finished batch goes on quality hold when any of these apply:

  • Check a batch before it can be sold is on in Settings
  • The recipe version has quality checks
  • The recipe has cure time

The batch is valued when the run finishes, but its Inventory lot stays Quarantined. Invoices, the till and job deliveries skip it. The cure date is the made-on date plus the longest of the cure time and any wait-until check.

The made product must be a goods product with Inventory and batch tracking. Manufacturing never changes an existing product's tracking for you; update it in Inventory first.

10.2 The Quality List

Waiting for a decision lists each batch with its label:

  • Curing — the cure date has not arrived
  • Checks needed — some checks have not passed
  • Ready to release — every check has passed and the cure date has arrived
  • Recalled — under an open recall

The sidebar badge counts finished batches waiting for a quality decision. Recalls lists recall records.

10.3 Recording Checks

Who can do it: Record batch quality checks

  1. Open the batch. The page shows Checks, how many are done, and the checks from the recipe version the batch was made with
  2. Open Record result under a check
  3. Enter the result: Pass or Fail, the Measured value, or the Samples separated by commas, such as 195.1, 200, 203
  4. Add Notes and click Save

Each result keeps the check definition, the time and the person. To correct a result, use Record another result; the latest result counts. Wait-until checks pass by themselves on their date in the business timezone; the Curing label and release decision use the same local date. Reminders are checked hourly from 06:00 in your business timezone. People who record checks get one notification per held batch when its cure date has arrived, including when it is the same as the made-on date. The next scheduled check picks up a batch that becomes ready between checks.

10.4 Releasing, Holding or Rejecting

Who can do it: Release batches from quality hold, under the saved Who can release policy, provided you did not record output, work or piece counts, or perform piece work on the order. Inactive or permission-revoked selected leads cannot release batches.

Each decision needs a Reason:

  • Release for sale — possible only when every check has passed and the cure date has arrived. The lot becomes active and can be sold
  • Keep on hold — records why more review is needed
  • Reject the batch — writes the remaining units off to abnormal production loss and keeps the record for inspectors

Decisions are listed under Decisions kept with this batch. If you cannot release, you see "Release needs an authorised quality lead who did not record output or work on this order."

A recalled batch cannot be released or rejected here. Handle it through its recall.
