Serial tracking lets you trace individual units through their lifecycle — from receipt to sale or write-off.
Enabling Serial Tracking
Serial tracking is configured per product:
- Edit the product and enable Track Serials.
- The product must be type Goods with Track Inventory enabled.
You cannot enable serial tracking after the product already has stock on hand. You also cannot disable it after serials have been created.
Serial Lifecycle
| Status | Description |
|---|---|
| In Stock | Serial is available at a location |
| Reserved | Serial is reserved for an order |
| Sold | Serial has been sold out of inventory |
| Returned | Serial was returned back into stock |
| Written Off | Serial has been removed from inventory |
| Quarantined | Serial is held from normal use |
Working with Serials
- Receiving: Enter serial numbers when receiving stock. Each serial must be unique.
- Transfers: Select specific serials to transfer between locations.
- Adjustments: Adjust serial status when correcting stock.
- Full traceability: Every movement for a serial is recorded in the movement ledger.
