Product Categories

Categories help you organize products into a logical hierarchy.

Creating a Category

1. Navigate to Categories → Create.
2. Enter the category name and optional description.
3. Select a parent category to create a sub-category (or leave blank for a top-level category).
4. Set the sort order and active status.
5. Click Save.

Category Hierarchy

Categories support unlimited nesting. A parent category can contain sub-categories, and each sub-category can contain further levels. The category index page shows:

• Total categories
• Active categories
• Categories with products
• Sub-category count

Importing Categories

1. Navigate to Categories → Import.
2. Download the template CSV (columns: name, description, parent_name).
3. Fill in your categories. Use the parent_name column to create hierarchy.
4. Upload and review results.

Deleting a Category

You cannot delete a category that has products assigned to it or has child categories.
